This narrative-jarring image shows an Islamist fighter near the top of a defaced statue of Hafez al-Assad in Idlib city, Syria. Note the nice touch of the boot on top of the statue. But of course there's no celebration in the Western media even though the image is more spontaneous than that of the Saddam-toppling in Firdos Square, Baghdad.
In fact, with an Islamist coalition led by Al-Nusra Front just having taken Idlib, it's probably about time for Pentagon to suddenly remember that the Khorasan Group is there too!
